“Each of your students has a story. Each teacher has a story. Each parent has a story. If you are unsure of where to start, this is a good place.”

Let’s get going!

Within the “blog” section of this website you will find read-aloud book suggestions, play-based activity ideas, and curricular connections on a variety of social justice topics.

The categories for the picture books and lessons are listed below. To find lessons within a particular topic, you can search the blog tags for that topic. Each lesson is also tagged with the applicable grade level. Lessons can be adapted to suit any class from Preschool 3 to Grade 2, but the tags reflect the grade-level-specific curriculum connections that have been listed. Preschool and Kindergarten lessons all use the Kindergarten curriculum standards for British Columbia. All lessons incorporate the BC Early Learning Framework Principles, First Peoples Principles of Learning, BC Core Competencies and Curriculum, and reference Teaching for Transformation throughlines (specific connections are shared separately in the “Christian Connections” section).

Each post also includes links to purchase the books, links to online read-alouds, discussion prompts, and play-based follow-up activities.
