Social Justice for Little Learners

My name is Shannon, and I am a kindergarten teacher in British Columbia, Canada. Over my “many-years-so-far” of teaching, I’ve discovered several passions in education. This project, completed as the capstone for my Professional Master of Education degree through Queen’s University, has allowed me to combine several of these passions: literacy (specifically stories shared through picture books), play, and social justice.

In February of 2024 I had the privilege of listening to Toni Boer share professional development. Her talks resonated with me, and connected deeply to this project, so she is quoted throughout the site (with her permission).
